Skin tags, those little benign growths on the skin, are also known by a few other names. You might hear them referred to as acrochordons, soft fibromas, or fibroepithelial polyps.

There are several methods for removing skin tags, each with its own benefits and risks. Historically excisions would have been performed in GP surgeries. This involved cutting off the skin tag with a scalpel or surgical scissors, which was quick and generally effective. However, due to the bleeding, risk of infection and potential scarring this method has become the least popular with few places offering this method.
Cauterization is the name for removing skin tags by burning them off. This is a quick process however, it can be quite painful with a risk of infection and again potentially being left with scarring.
Ligation if often a DIY approach to removing skin tags and can work quite well where there is only a small attachment area. For this method the base of the skin tag is tied off, which cuts off its blood supply. The skin tag will blacken and die causing it to fall off. There is still a risk of infection, bleeding, and if done properly may still take several days to work.
Certain lasers are also being used to remove the skin tag, which are precise and effective but can take several sessions which can end up being a costly method of removal. There is a small potential for skin discolouration and scarring around the area.
Our method is Cryotherapy where the skin tag is frozen off using liquid nitrogen. It is a quick, straight forward process, minimally invasive and cost effective.
Milia are also known by a few other names. They are sometimes referred to as: milk spots or oil seeds. These tiny, pearly-white bumps are actually small cysts filled with keratin, and they can appear on various parts of the body, however they are most commonly around the nose and eyes which makes them visible and makes many people self conscious of them. Fortunately at The Skinutrition Clinic we can perform Milia removal treatments to address this issue.
